Our History

Wendell Stringer, founder and president, began working in funeral service in 1959, living in Jackson 15 years before purchasing the Crystal Springs business.  We are proud of our family owned and operated business and are well-known for our personalized funeral services. We are happy to serve the needs of the Copiah County area.

Wendell  Stringer

Wendell Stringer, Founder and President

Founder and President. Wendell began working in funeral service in 1959, living in Jackson 15 years before purchasing the Crystal Springs business in 1975. In February 1963, Wendell completed a degree in Funeral Service at Commonwealth College of Science in Houston, Texas. In 1963, he also completed certification of the National Funeral Service Examining Board. In 1967, he graduated from the National Foundation School of Funeral Services in Evanston, Illinois.Wendell served two terms as district governor of the Mississippi Funeral Directors Association and three years on the executive board of the association moving up to his term as president. He represented the Mississippi Funeral Directors on the policy board of the National Funeral Directors Association for the last thirteen years.Other offices that Wendell has held include president and member of the board of directors of the Crystal Springs Chamber of Commerce and the Lions Club. He presently serves on the board of directors of Central Mississippi Planning & Development District and on the board of directors of the Copiah County Industrial Development District. He served in several positions on the board of directors, band boosters and athletic boosters at Copiah Academy. Wendell is a deacon of First Baptist Church in Crystal Springs where he has taught senior boys’ Sunday school.


David  Brunt III

David Brunt III, Manager-Funeral Director

David is a 1981 graduate of Copiah Academy and received his Bachelor of Business Administration Degree from the University of Mississippi in 1985. He received his degree in funeral service at Commonwealth College of Science in Houston, Texas with honors and was elected Sergeant at Arms of Phi Sigma Eta, an honorary fraternity of funeral directors. He has served two terms as district governor in the Mississippi Funeral Directors Association. He has served on many boards at Copiah Academy including the Booster Club as Vice President, Colonel Club as President, and on the Board of Directors as President. David, a member of First Baptist Church, resides in Crystal Springs with his wife Amy and children David IV, Alexandra, Levi and Eliza.

Jonathan  Nicholson

Jonathan Nicholson, Funeral Director/Embalmer

Jonathan Nicholson started his career in funeral service in 1998 working as a funeral assistant for Freeman Funeral Home in Leakesville, MS. He later received his degree in Mortuary Science in 2003 from Holmes Community College. Jonathan and his wife, Tiffany, have two children, Brooklyn Miller and her husband Robbie, and Brayden. He has lived in Wesson, MS since 2004. When he is not assisting families, Jonathan enjoys spending time with his family, and being involved in church activities at Springhill Pentecostal Church in Wesson, MS. "It is my mission to use my professional abilities to put families at ease and to provide families with a lasting tribute for their loved ones." “ I am very proud to be able to serve the people of Copiah County and the surrounding areas.”
